Fifth Grade Artists Create, Then Present Eighth Grade Crosses

Fifth Grade Artists helped create the crosses presented to the St. Ann's Eighth Grade Graduating Class! They worked hard and put a lot of love into these very special crosses that are given to all the graduating eighth graders. There were seven steps in all to prepare these crosses: sanding, applying texture, painting, stamping, framing, and sealing.

The crosses were blessed by Father Tony.

And then, to make it even more special, whichever fifth grader created the cross actually handed over the masterpiece to the cross for whom it was made. It was an honor for the fifth graders to play a part in something this special.

3D Sculpting During Some Free Art Time in the Classroom

Art Students are allowed to go to the "Free Art" area once they have completed their assigned project. These students made great use of their time and created some real works of art!

 St. Ann's Student Artwork
at the Museum of the Southwest!

Over 30 pieces of art from St. Ann's artists were selected to go to the Museum of the Southwest. the theme this year was "Culture and Heritage". The museum staff then selected some pieces to be hung on the wall of the exhibit and others were placed in a digital display!

The St. Ann's artists learned about Aboriginal Art from Australia and created their very own storytelling piece with mixed media (construction paper crayons, cut paper, and paint).

Congratulations to all participants!

ZENTANGLE EASTER CROSSES ON TILE!

All artists, Grades 1-5, created their very own cross on their very own tile for Easter!
Artists learned about an art process called Zentangle, and then applied what they learned to each section of the cross. They finished them out beautifully with paint pens!

St. Ann's Christmas Tree at the Museum of the Southwest!

Come and enjoy the beautifully festive Christmas trees this season at the Museum of the Southwest right here in Midland, Texas! The 5th Grade Art Students of St. Ann's School completed their Printmaking unit and created some amazing Stars of Bethlehem. The printing was done on small muslin bags and became tree ornaments to remind us all what the real gift of Christmas really is....the birth of baby Jesus! It doesn't matter what is in the bags and under the tree, for the real gift has already been given. Praise the Lord!
